Our Painting Adventure

So, Ron and I have been doing some silly stuff on the weekends like going bowling, playing golf, going to the zoo and things like that. Well, this last weekend we decided that since the guest room is all prepped for painting that we would buy canvas and do some colorful paintings for our walls!

We had a lot of fun gathering all the supplies...and realized that Sweden is really silly :)

"Everytime I come around the city BLING BLING"

Yea snow rage...hahaha

Everyone was freaking out about this volleyball tournament - they took a bunch of sand and dropped it in the city center and set up bleachers but it was still next to nothing compared to a Huntington Beach event...it was funny :)

When the weather gets nice all the swedes get their boats out...

Now here is where we get started painting.... (its acrylic by the way...)

Neither of us are really painters but because I love drawing we both thought that my painting would turn out the best....not so much. Ron's painting turned out waaay better - I did not like mine at all so I havnt even finished it yet! hahaha.

We decided to hang his in the living room - it goes with our rug and our couch and we like that its abstract :)

The Guest Room

So, it may not look like it from the pictures - but our guest room has light blue striped wallpaper. Why anyone still uses wallpaper is beyond me, but I learned my lesson the last time I took down wallpaper (and found red walls underneath) and so this time around I am just going to paint white over this wallpaper.

That's all Ive got for now - I have one layer of paint on the whole room and I plan to do another coat but I had to stop for a week because I got injured....opening a can of paint.

This is the second time Ive had a bad experience opening a can of paint - I don't understand why I cant do it, but every time I try I get really hurt. The first time I tried I just got really frustrated and was peeling back all the edges and my hands started bleeding and I nearly had a mental breakdown.

Then this most recent time I was trying to open the can with a screwdriver like Ron showed me and I was prying at part of the can when my hand slipped and hit the can and the sharp edge cut my middle finger and took off a chunk of my thumb! It hurt so bad I almost passed out! My hand was bleeding alot and I couldnt even look at it without almost throwing up. So, now its been almost a week of not having use of my right hand thumb - which I never realised, but I use this thumb alot!

So the moral of the story is - I am never opening (trying to open) a can of paint again.

PS - My thumb is doing a lot better now :)

Our Home

I promised to post pictures of our place now that we have gotten some more furniture and filled it out a bit.

Living Room

Our desk - which we moved into the living room so we could watch tv, be on the computer and be in the same room together at all times... :) We tried to make the guest room an office but then we would just have our laptops out all the time in the living room so we gave up on that....


Our fireplace that we never use so we got some cute lights and wrapped them around to light it up. :)


Our dining room table....dont mind the post-it notes - we were labeling things in Swedish :)

A wedding gift from the UK office.....

A tiki that we brought all the way back from our honeymoon in Hawaii....we love this little guy!

I still need to post pictures of the guest room while I am renovating it - some 'before' pictures so once I finish we can compare! :p

New Look....

So, I looked at my blog and the fact that those pictures of the zoo came out really funky was bothering me so I am trying another template that will hopefully make it easier to view photos.

Im sorry for not posting more often - I have lots to catch up on so these next two weeks I am going to try to get all caught up and do some sprucing up with my blog so its not so boring.

Ölands Djurpark

Today was sooo much fun!! Ron knows how much I love animals - so today he took me to a zoo off an island in Sweden! Its called 'Ölands Djurpark' The first word is the name of the island and the second word means animal park.

We took some pictures, so here they are!

Here I am at the entrance of the park......


Here is a picture of the statue at the front of the zoo, its a clown holding a mouse in his hand that looks just like Mickey Mouse. We are pretty sure that Disney would not approve...hahaha...

I seriously cannot explain how close we were to the animals, these animals could DEFINITELY jump out of their areas if they wanted to - there was just a mote and a short wall separating us...so we were actually a little scared! Here are some cute monkeys - the one on the left is a baby! :)


Look at this BEAR!!! Neither of us have ever been so close to a bear before - he was like 50 feet in front of us!



We saw soooo many cute little monkeys!


Here is the Lion, he was in a pretty large cage - thankfully. He was pretty nappy.


This was THE cutest monkey - not just because he is little and fluffy, but because he was OBSESSED with Ron! What ever side of the cage that Ron would walk to - he would run to that spot! And Ron even walk around the whole cage and this little guy ran around the whole thing following him - it was sooo cute!


We were checking out some Hyenas and all of a sudden these llamas got really scared and were staring at the Hyenas. We dont know why they were freaking out, but they looked really cute anyways. :)


MEERKATS! I watch Meerkat Manor sometimes so I was dying when I saw these little guys - they are WAY smaller in person than you would expect! And we got to be really close to them, there was one standing right by my foot on the other side of the fence! :)





We also saw Lemurs and I touched one of their hands!! It was soo adorable but when I got out the camera they ran off...:( So, not pictures of them. I should have taken more pictures, but I did take some pictures of one of our most memorable moments.....


.... the Tiger! This tiger was so close - we were in disbelief - and kindof scared. I mean, that tiger at the San Francisco zoo that jumped out of its area and killed that boy had a 20 foot moat and an 18 foot wall.....at this zoo, the tiger was behind a moat and a wall - no fence, but it really looked like nothing. We might as well have been in the same area! But, it made for great pictures :)






We had sooo much fun today - I want to go there every Saturday!!
